A PRACTICE FOR FOUNDERS AND LEADERS

Capture the expertise
you’ve spent a
lifetime building.

THE BRIEF

The most important knowledge in a business is often the least documented: why the founder made a certain choice, how a leader recognizes what others miss, which stories carry the culture, and what language makes people believe.

I help founders and leaders bring that knowledge into view. Through interviews, source material, and close editorial listening, I find the through-line, preserve the human voice, and shape what emerges into something other people can understand and use.

The result may be a founder story, an executive voice system, a leadership narrative, a knowledge base, or an intelligent tool grounded in trusted source material. AI can extend the work. It does not replace the judgment, memory, or meaning at its center.

IDEA 01

STORY AS
INFRASTRUCTURE

WORKING PRINCIPLE
A founder story is not a biography. It is a map of how the organization learned to see the world.

Origin stories hold more than chronology. They reveal the moments that shaped judgment, the tensions behind important decisions, and the language that gives a company its internal logic. When captured carefully, story becomes an operating asset rather than a retrospective exercise.

WHAT THIS CAN UNLOCK
  • A clearer founding narrative
  • Stronger leadership messaging
  • Shared context for teams and successors
  • A credible source for future content

IDEA 02

VOICE NEEDS
A SOURCE

WORKING PRINCIPLE
Authentic voice does not come from asking a tool to “sound more human.” It comes from giving it something human to work from.

Executive voice lives in patterns: the stories someone returns to, the distinctions they make, the phrases they would never use, and the values hiding underneath ordinary decisions. Those patterns can be documented without flattening the person into a formula.

BUILD THE SOURCE

WHY IT MATTERS

Lived stories create specificity.

They give voice a place, a tension, and a reason. Without them, even polished communication can feel interchangeable.

IDEA 03

KNOWLEDGE
MUST MOVE

WORKING PRINCIPLE
Expertise becomes more valuable when it can travel without losing its source.

Organizations accumulate intelligence in interviews, documents, inboxes, meeting notes, and people’s memories. The task is not merely to collect it. The task is to preserve where it came from, decide what can be trusted, and organize it so that people and tools can retrieve the right knowledge at the right moment.

APPLICATIONS

WHAT THE WORK
CAN BECOME

01 / STORY + STRATEGY

Founder Intelligence

A deep editorial process that surfaces the experiences, convictions, turning points, and language at the center of a founder’s work.

POSSIBLE OUTPUTS
  • Founder origin story
  • Message architecture
  • Signature point of view
  • Interview archive

INTERACTIVE STARTING POINT

WHAT DO YOU NEED
YOUR KNOWLEDGE TO DO?

YOUR STARTING POINT

Founder Intelligence

Begin with a narrative interview and source review to uncover the decisions, language, and experiences that form the real story.

THE METHOD

FROM LIVED EXPERIENCE
TO LIVING ASSET

01

Discover

Listen deeply. Gather stories, documents, decisions, and the language behind the work.

02

Distill

Find the patterns. Separate what is merely informative from what is unmistakably yours.

03

Design

Shape the material into a narrative, system, or human-centered intelligent tool.

04

Deploy

Put it to work across leadership, communications, onboarding, thought leadership, or legacy.

ABOUT MARISA

I listen for the sentence beneath the sentence.

I have always been interested in what people mean before they quite know how to say it.

That instinct began in journalism, where the first answer was rarely the real story. At People and People en Español, I learned to listen for the detail that changed everything: the contradiction, the memory, the sentence someone almost passed over. Later, in corporate, executive, and crisis communications, the stakes changed, but the work did not. I was still asking questions, finding the meaning inside the noise, and helping people say what they actually meant.

I have done that work inside large organizations, across languages and cultures, and at the kitchen table. I have helped leaders communicate when the words carried consequences. I have helped build institutions, including the International Charter School of Atlanta, from an idea into something real. And as a Cuban-American woman who grew up moving between languages, places, and ways of seeing the world, I learned early that words carry more than information. They carry history, identity, judgment, and belonging.

That is why I care so deeply about what happens when technology enters the writing process. AI can help us organize, synthesize, and create. But it cannot begin with an empty page and somehow know what matters to you. It needs the stories you tell, the decisions you have made, the language you return to, the things you believe, and even the things you would never say. Without that source material, your voice does not become more efficient. It becomes more generic.

My work begins with conversation. I listen for the story underneath, trace the patterns in how you think, and help turn what you know into something clear, useful, and lasting. The goal is not to manufacture a polished version of you. It is to preserve the real one, so your ideas can travel farther without losing the person who gave them meaning.
